"It's the "did it admirably" that sticks in the craw ....And who was it that made the great personal sacrifice"

Many people have made sacrifices, most of which aren't recorded. Bush has endured the hatred and very public vitriolic attacks of people who probably don't know him and who have obvious ulterior motives when using tongue or keyboard. Of course criticism may be a healthy and even essential component of dynamic leadership but the attacks on Bush are way beyond healthy criticism and have been for a long time. He stayed the course of his administration in spite of extreme pressure and loss of public esteem because he knew it was the right thing to do. To have faltered would have been devastating for our country and the world in general.

It has even now become socially unacceptable to compliment President Bush in public. So, even though I didn't vote for him, I feel inclined to give credit where credit is do in spite of public sentiment. I suspect your craw is stuck with a lot of unwholesome stuff, so one kind word for Bush isn't likely to make that much difference any way.
