my feeling is these illegal settlements are the cause for a lot of anxiety in the region, and we as huge $$ supporters of israel should have put a stop to it long ago, but the right wing leadership we have in washington doesn't do anything about it ...

Lizzie, that's just plain ol' bull crap. The settlements, "illegal" or not, didn't start with Bush's election. Tell me, what did Clinton do to stop the incursion of Israeli "settlers" into Palestinian territory? Bush, as you know (or should if you're paying attention), is trying to do something about it and Sharon, who previously supported the settlers 110%, is actually ordering many of the settlements dismantled, in spite of loud protest.

Its just a bad place for a democratic country.

LOL. Yeah, democracy is just incompatible with... uh... are you generalizing about Palestinians, Arabs, all Muslims, what? Whatever, it's still a ridiculously ethnocentric statement.
