Stockman... Very much my point. It is essential that a traditional corporation with deep roots (I know, my brother studied with Olson's son at MIT) be pruned back not ripped out. Morale of a corporation can be damaged if a merger is viewed as a take over.
(Unfortunately, persons from a central European country, excluding Bismarck, are not the best diplomats. Although very efficient and successful, sometimes in history they have made the mistake to be perceived as "conquerers" when "liberators" would have been much more effective. Ergo my question to George, "How long has E. Pfeiffer been in the USA?")
DEC's name and history with its clients and contacts, in general, are a valuable asset "goodwill" in this acquisition. It can only be realized with a sensitive smooth transition. In the present job market good employeeys who have many alternatives can easily seek employement elsewhere. Even getting rid of the fat could entice good employees to leave, if they are unsure and anxious.
I have experienced these situations from the board level. Let's watch DEC closely in the next 3 months.
