It is good of you to point out that wearing the veil does not represent any intrinsic evil. Nor is it exclusive to Muslims. However, I have two objections: Firstly, it seems designed to entice; and secondly, peope are always taking home somebody else's wife by
mistake.

Seriously, it supposedly indicates modesty and religious devotion--when it is worn voluntarily rather than under duress. However, although the point is to exhibit modesty...is not the exhibition rather an act of vanity?

As to driving. That is not a religious issue. If she can meet peripheral vision standards while wearing a nikab, then she ought to be allowed to drive. As to whether or not carrying her picture ID on her person compromises her modesty or religious devotion...that is just plain silly. On the other hand, if Law Enforcement has need to question her she has neither more nor less rights to privacy than any other citizen. Law Enforcement routinely compromises religious jurisdiction. Do you think someone in a burka is immune to airport search whereas you and I are not. Religious devotion be damned. "Would you please step aside, Ma'am..."
