Remember saccharin, and its cancer-causing potential? I do. I vividly remember the ubiquitous cartoon showing the rat pumped up with the alternative, cyclamate, like a balloon when it was hysterically banned, never to return despite a couple of tentative attempts. I've been reading lately how palm and the other saturated plant fats are being rehabilitated as alternatives for the currently discredited trans fats. A couple of decades ago they were considered sure poisons. I agree that moderation is probably the safest approach. I avoid certain things but I don't eliminate anything entirely.
