I agree that logic and reasoning is important. However, you also have to consider all the contextual information, such as who is giving you the information and do they have an agenda. Intelligent people can be very persuasive. So if you understand whether they have an agenda or not, you can understand whether they are stretching the truth in favor of their agenda or not. For example, when I watch Fox News, I get good info, but I always keep in mind that it will always slant thing in favor of the GOP and against the Dems. When I watch MSNBC, the opposite is true. I'm old enough to know that one must always consider the source when seeking unvarnished truth.
