Competition and free markets drive down prices. Indeed. Shame that health care reformers didn't grasp that I think they all understand this perfectly well. However, they think that they can outsmart the markets and do a better and "fairer" job, and damn the costs. Inter alia, stepping back and allowing free markets and competition to do the job would make government less relevant..... and that goes against the nature of the beast.
