Fowler doesn't control ASCOM selling. The shares are in a voting trust on corporate matters, controlled by a member of the Board of Directors, but unless Fowler actually buys those shares, he can't control their sale.
I don't know what ASCOM's divestiture plans are, but it does look to me as if they have exercised their market power to keep IDX trading in a range of about $8 to $10, with occasional excursions up and down.
It's likely that the people who have been posting about ASCOM changes of management, and the nature of ASCOM's business needs, etc., are right . . . and that it is more likely that ASCOM is selling for external reasons. However, they have a massive amount they could sell, so the technical outlook (a relatively narrow trading range for an indefinite time) overwhelms any potential fundamental issues (such as ASCOM having made an in-depth survey of IDX's businesses and markets beyond what we can discern).
Nothing changes until it changes. ASCOM finishes selling, or IDX helps place their shares, or IDX breaks some major news. Anybody out there able to reliably predict the future in that detail? |
