NEW YORK, Oct 1 (Reuter) - MCI Communications MCIC.O led Nasdaq higher following news of WorldCom's WCOM.O $30 billion bid for the telecommunications company. The Nasdaq was up 7.36 points or 0.44 percent at 1693.05. MCI was most active, up 5-13/16 at 35-3/16. The Dow surged by some 48 points in initial trades but quickly fell back. The blue chip index was up 22.10 points or 0.29 percent at 7968.10. The long bond was up 14/32 to yield 6.37. REUTER Rtr 09:54 10-01-97
