David, From the article about the FAA -

"A statement from Inspector General Kenneth Mead, whose office conducted the probe, said control of access to airports is a continuing problem but the FAA 'has been slow to take actions necessary to strengthen access control requirements and adequately oversee the implementation of existing controls.'"

We all know from our frustration with the IDX O'Hare pilot program that the FAA is dragging its feet. What possible excuse can they have for such delay? Everyone knows there is a security problem at airports, and we all now know that the IDX pilot program has been successful, so what is the delay? The only reason I can come up with is that we're dealing with a government agency.

The next time I board a plane I'm going to be a little more concerned about who is on board with me, wondering if they are all legitimate or not, passengers and crew.
