Day to day it certainly isnt civil war, nor was the attack on the shiaa mosque--it was terrorism either done by jihadists or baathists and perhaps even a little secret help from the iranians. But the shiaa gut reaction of days 1&2 could have become the first shot in a civil war. So far not, but we do get closer to that. Only way to prevent it is a deal between shiaa and sunni where jihadists & foreigners are given up for more influence in govt and defanging of shiaa militias. I have seen little evidence of that happening so its only a matter of time before the next shiaa mosque/shopping area is hit and on one the these occasions will be fierce and not controllable and all hell will break lose. I hope shiaa and sunni come to their senses and to the table before this happens.
