It's more likely that they abuse the credit-worthiness built by those who came before them to steal 100s of $billions from those who will have to repay it in the future. If that runs the country into the ground in the meantime, they don't care.

That's what the wingnut repug faction who have hijacked the Republican party are really about. Theft.
