I can go anywhere in the world and the dollar is accepted. Tell me one other currency that can do that! Just one!
As far as gold and silver that gets accepted at face value if you want to spend it, I have neve been able to buy anything with an ounce of gold.
Period.
Try it.
I get offered $50 for the ounce.
Try paying for something with a silver dollar and you will receive a dollar not $11.63 the spot price of silver.
So to get the sea change where dollars are shunned and gold and silver are accepted is not in your lifetime.



Give it a rest:

Determining the price of something that has zero intrinsic value, like the dollar is more dependant on perception than anything else.
