James: A major plank of your anti-DIS feeling seems to be the lack of
cultural value in much of their work. This argument has some validity
but a movie like 'The English Patient' produced by a DIS company has
much artistic merit and won a significant number of Oscars earlier
this year. Likewise the excellent score for Pocahontas won an oscar
last year. There are numerous examples that one could quote. Much of the film work is of high quality, some isn't but to
imply that DIS output is all cultural trash is unfair and clearly
untrue IMHO.

DIS now produces many non-childrens movies e.g 'The Rock' which are
succesful and are not just trash. 'The Rock' was rewritten by Dick Clement and Ian LaFrenais two of the very best British film and TV
writers (uncredited).
