Jim:
Thanks. No need to send your email address now (and you forgot to include it in the private note, in any event). I'll post later, asking those who have posted in the thread to send their email address in a private message.
Hey! I'm not going to form a mailing list or anything. I just figured that, for those who wish to acknowledge participation with a public post, I might distribute a small amount of research before posting it here. It would just be a means for a few of us to get to know each other better. A few people have written asking to be added to my email list for "picks". Won't happen.
Obligatory Lampert-related comments.... in Abelson's column for Barron's, he was pushing hard for Advanced Magnetics. That probably means that he's most secure and patient with several of his other companies. :-)
I think it's legal to post excerpts, as long as they're properly cited. So, from today's Barron's, "Sell Everything!", Alan Abelson......
"This year could prove dramatically different, says Mark Lampert, who runs the Biotech Value Fund and whose informed views we've quoted from time to time. Although tilted to the short side last year (and with some scars to show for it), his hedge fund was up nearly 16%, and since its first trade in the summer of '93 has appreciated some 330% (compared with a 53% rise in the aforementioned index and 141% in the S&P)."
Last Lampert-related comment.... I mentioned earlier that I own some CVAS. Only a few shares, a "make me keep it in mind" stake. I therefore don't really mind that it had a weak day today. Nonetheless, it did. Thoughts? Woods was a bit "rehearsed" at H&Q, but promised five (count 'em) products in the clinic by end of '98.
Cheers! Rick |
