Last mile technology has to do with what a company named Winstar Communications (WCII) is all about. The technology is called wireless fiber and it allows for point of site building to building connections to networks. It allows an entire building to bypass the Bell company thus saving access fees. Winstar is on of the main license holders in the 38 Ghz frequency for wireless fiber service. It is being rolled out country wide right now with strong expansion plans in NYC and the east coast for the third and forth quarter of 1996.
