my land line was switched over to optic cable by verizon, it now has a one hour battery back up. do not think it operates after battery runs down. when i switched over my pc to optic several weeks ago. verizon also switched over my land line(used existing copper wires in house) to optic where it connects at the house entrance. there is a battery now installed on the line and i will get a beeping sound in about four years to replace the back up battery at my cost.

the phone optic line is very clear under the older land line we had difficulty hearing the person now everyone seems right on top of us. response on pc is great. it is a dedicated line to pc and not like cable that once in street it shares the same cable line and service can go deteriate based on number of users at one time. on optic you have a dedicated fiber and no loss of speed.
