I believe Michael answered it quite well.

Billing isn't going to change because the onhook/offhook works the same, might disrupt the dsL now and then but the call placement is same.

G.lite doesn't work as well in bundling arrangements from what I had heard, which makes it less appealing to the RBOCs.
