Just for clarification, the O'Neil idea of selling after the stock has dropped 8 or 10% only applies to the purchase price. Once your ahead on a stock, you don't sell if the stock drops back 10% from some price higher than your purchase price. The other rule that goes along with this sell rule is that you only purchase a stock when TA indicates it is about to break, or is actually breaking into, new high ground after a lengthy consolidation. The idea is that if you purchase the stock right before or as it's breaking out, it'll quickly move above your purchase price. Then you won't have to worry about it dropping 10% below your purchase price and being forced to implement your sell rule.
