SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 24, 1999--RioPort, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Diamond Multimedia (Nasdaq: DIMD - news), today announced a strategic agreement with Taiwan-based GVC Corporation in which the electronics manufacturing industry giant will handle assembly for hardware licensee production of RioPort's next generation Rio portable digital audio players. Beginning in July, GVC will manufacturer the new Rio 500 (also announced today) for Diamond Multimedia, which has signed on as the first retail distributor and licensee of the new Internet digital audio player.
