Its a pay me now or pay me BIG later sort of situation. Good estate and tax planning keeps funds in your family's hands vs. Uncle Sam. I routinely have clients that have to pay me tens of thousands of dollars to get them out of a mess that a $150 - $300 consult would have prevented. Needless to say it is always the other fellows fault, and/or the lawyers, that "created" the problem.

I consult with a fellow every three years to make sure I don't have that issue, and I am a lawyer, I just don't specialize in that area. I paid another atty to set up my LLC because I don't handle that sort of work. The money spent on the front end is like insurance, you only regret not paying for it if you need it.

Since alot of fellow posters are trading in the IRA accounts, had huge runs, and still contribute to the account they need to talk to an expert about how to handle their personal estate.
