I am thinking from the larger picture of a safe, free world not from the minute personal level----we already have had the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. We are vulnerable to terroists and hate America types. We are vulnerable from without and within. Reg. the military the military has a function----unless one is drafted into the military---to serve in the military is a concious choice on the part of the individual. If one does not want to fight in a war then they don't belong in the military. Our families have served proudly in the various services and are proud to have served our country throughout history. The decisions to serve were concious decisions with all of the risk and rewards. mj
