I spent a month on this site thinking that you were making some sense, but if you believe that thermite was the explosive that took out the columns in this sequence, than you have almost as many issues as Doug. Not quite, but almost. I make no definitive statement about thermite. That said, Professor Jones has said that he found specific signatures that indicate that Thermite was present. Apparently there are residues on the steel which can only come from the patented Thermite formula. You can read about it in Jones' paper on the subject. Jones did testing with steel and aluminum trying to replicate a reaction and the byproducts. All negative. My position on the collapse is simple. We all saw what we saw. Those are the facts. I have a hard time believing that the building could collapse in free fall time unless some of the support was compromised. I think you get a different result when dropping a mass in air, versus through creme filled doughnuts, versus through 250 high strength columns, for time elapsed to hit the ground. I think that the energy analysis that the Scotsman did should be refined further. We should be able to understand the event from a macro standpoint first. Through basic physics. The NIST team has spent $20 million dollars on a study that ignores the macro event and focuses on assumptions that might have occurred on a micro level. Right down to using shotguns in an effort simulate a aircraft impact and how that might affect the insulation bond to the steel. I think that is nonsense. A dynamic model of the building collapse needs to be studied. Later we can then investigate what the cause of the impending failure was. Or at least the study should be expanded to include both aspects, the macro collapse and the micro cause. That's one of the major criticisms of the current study. It does not address the collapse part. Where did all the metal floor pans go? Does concrete really turn to dust in a gravity only collapse? Did some of the steel vaporize as I have read? How did molten metal pour out of the side of the building just prior to the collapse? How was molten metal kept hot for 6 weeks in the rubble piles of all three buildings...even the one that no plane hit? I think we all agree that a crime was committed on 9-11. It should have been treated like a crime scene, and each piece of steel was evidence. Every effort should have been made to preserve the evidence and to catalog it while the clean up was taking place. Drawing conclusions about what happened without these kinds of study is foolhardy. The engineering team that is looking at the collapse has already proven that they are fools. First the bolts sheared off and the floors pancaked. Then they changed their report to say the floors stayed in tact. The connections that were so weak they sheared off are now strong enough to pull columns in to the point of buckling. I hope that engineers the world over scrutinize the calculations they are using to identify the impending failure mode on their latest theory. Why should I be expected to draw any conclusions when the team of engineers that we're paying $20 million to can't draw any? LOL! It took a huge team of people to design and construct the WTC. It took a huge team of people to design it's demise. And it's going to take a huge team of people to figure out what really happened on 9-11. We have not put in the required effort in studying the collapses. Now with most of the evidence melted down, that kind of study will be almost impossible. Every piece of steel was evidence. Each time a piece of steel was loaded up to be melted, a crime was committed. Destruction of evidence.
