And none of these issues were starting in motion prior to January 20th of 2001? I think they were. Government was spending money based on projected inflows that never materialized as a result of because the economy was sinking from late 1999 on. The dollar faces challenges because of this over spending and ( roaring 90's party we had ) which means to keep consumers looking credit worthy we needed to adjust rates. Once rates were adjusted down the logical next step is a devaluation in or currency. In short I don't think its quite so easy to lay this all at the feet of GWB and I work in the same industry you do
