After that, the cost of the lift ticket is very expensive. But where else can you get the kids outdoors in winter and wear out them out at the same time

Save the cost - go nordic skiing. :)

The clothes are still expensive, but after that the ski rental and trail fee usually is only $30/person, if that.

And the kids will be exhausted afterwards.
