Very few scans are taken of life threatening situations....... But they are amazing machines the problem being that they overused because they can be so profitable when they are used constantly. Any business that uses expensive captital equipment needs to keep that equipment in use to pay for it and turn a profit...eg aircraft...

And incidentally, many people have friends who had scans that showed something that may have killed them....but you will note that although we have about twice as many scanners/person in the US, our live expectancy is still less that of Canada...
