A huge number of your countrymen are greatly offended by movies, TV, pop music, and pop culture in general.

I don't find pop culture attractive either. Does that make me part of your crowd? If not, why not?

Enduring the occasional eyeroll on Fox should be a piece of cake.

I hope I don't appear to be enveloping myself in a victim role here. That isn't my view at all. I'm a big girl and can take the occasional eye roll.

I have just found through experience that people aren't so different and consensus is possible if people are just willing to listen and to think and to be constructive instead of automatically lining up on sides. It seems a shame to me to direct so much energy into whose deity is the true one. Let God sort that out later. In my view, we all accept that different people have different views of God, that that's OK, that we're each entitled to our own, and we go on about seeking happiness in our own way. Seems to me that's consistent with both common sense and the Constitution. Way too much life energy going into looking for differences to put down.

Your expectations may be unrealistic.

I expect open mindedness and tolerance and privacy on religion, no more and no less. It may be unrealistic but I don't think it unreasonable.

Karen - I must have missed a post. The basis of political suicide (or victory) is VOTES.

I'm sorry if I missed a post or am just being thick. Why would Bush lose votes if he were to make a speech that said that people who have different views of God are all part of the American family and that we should play nicely together? Who could have a problem with such a gesture, particularly considering that he's just reinforcing what's in the law?
