Maybe so, although with Verlander and Cabrera, they'd win some.
Point taken though, as of now, Yankees, Bosox and Rays, have the best American League records and Jays may have propped up their offense enough, with the addition of Thames and Snider to the lineup, to post some significant improvement in the win column in the second half, which if true, means Detroit and Baltimore, might be fighting it out for the basement were Detroit in the A.L. East.
Jays just need to light an offensive fire under Hill and Davis to fuel a serious 2nd half run that may well be assisted by a Lawrie call-up in August.
Man, I'm liking the direction of the Jays right now under the Bautista leadership, a strong young starting rotation (albeit with a few kinks still) and so much young talent waiting in the wings!
Snider, with his 3 doubles yesterday, showed the promise of meeting the huge potential many expect, having spent 2 months sorting out his swing in AAA, and Thames, a recent call up, looks like a real major leaguer from what I've witnessed. Not unimportantly for the Jays, both are lefties with power, something sorely previously in short supply in the Jays line up.
Exciting times await Jays fans! |
