doctorsontm.com Above link only gives one an idea of how widespread psychosomatic illnesses(PSIs) are. However, this diagnosis must be entertained ONLY AFTER a true organic condition is ruled out. Some fields of Medicine encounter more psychosomatic disorders than others. My main point is that survival rates do not tell us all about the quality of healthcare delivered as a very large percentage of patients have no life-threatening disease, and many of these have in fact a psychosomatic disease or a stress-aggravated organic condition(such as angina, heart failure, colic, whatever). BTW, most males'PSI are due to work-related stress while females have family-related problems.
