Intrinsyc(R) to Deliver Intel(R) XScale(TM) Microarchitecture based Solutions to the Growing Telematics Market
Solutions will deliver wireless multi-media and mobile commerce
automotive applications
VANCOUVER, March 4 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Intrinsyc Software, Inc. (TSE:ICS), today announced that it will extend its reach into the growing telematics (wireless in-vehicle computing) market segment. Expected to undergo an average growth rate of 90 percent a year over the next five years, the total number of cars fitted with telematics systems is expected to reach 56 million by 2005 worldwide (ARC Group). This creates an enormous opportunity for Intrinsyc who will promote and sell Cerf(TM)Cruiser, a new telematics reference design platform, based on the Intel(R) PXA250 applications processor, in the North America, Europe and Asian markets.
"Intrinsyc's expertise in reference designs and ability to deliver custom integration solutions led to our decision to work with Intrinsyc in the delivery of the telematics reference design using the Intel PXA250 applications processors," said Pat Kerrigan, marketing director of Intel's Telematics Operation.
In addition to the reference platform, Intrinsyc will provide developers with the tools, information, technologies and support required to successfully build products and services that deliver wireless voice, safety, mobile commerce, multi-media and data communications applications to the automotive and other similar telematics markets.
"This partnership with Intel should prove to be a very good market opportunity for Intrinsyc in a very hot telematics sector," said Dick Slansky, Senior Analyst, ARC. "Intrinsyc's established experience and expertise with embedded reference design platforms, coupled with the Intel PXA250 processor will provide the telematics OEMs with the tools to deliver multi-media applications for the automotive and aerospace sectors," added Slansky.
"We are delighted to partner with Intel in the promotion of our CerfCruiser reference design, based on the Intel(R) PXA250 applications processor," said Neil McDonnell, President and Chief Executive Officer, Intrinsyc Software. "Entering the telematics market, which analysts forecast to exceed $US 13 billion by 2010, is consistent with our business strategy and a perfect fit for our skills and technologies," added McDonnell.
