<The Forest Service manages national forests and grasslands. It was started by Theodore Roosevelt and Gifford Pinchot over 100 years ago. >

MM, who did they buy the forests and grasslands from? How much did they pay?

It would be interesting to see the return on investment, and also the return on the current market value of the land, forests and grasslands.

I hope that noble enterprise wasn't based on stolen property. It should be very easy to make a profit on a highly capital intensive business if it's taken by force from the previous owners.

If I took it over at the right price, I bet I could make a bigger profit than the current owners.

I could immediately increase profits by stopping the "marijuana interdiction", putting those involved into real work. That would also save downstream costs of legal nonsense.

I could increase the profits from water by selling to the highest bidders.

I'm sure there are other savings I could make and increased revenue I could achieve [and not just for a year or two].
