the official line is that performance is measured relative to t-bird @ 1GHz. That is 2000+ should be twice the speed of the original t-biird @ 1GHz

What exactly are you measuring it against?

It seems that p4m @ 1.7Ghz performs on par with pIIIm @ 1.2GHz which is clear failure of MHz system. Intel should not allow their customers to be deceived like that but instead of helping the issue intel is adding that not only it is clocked at higher rate but it is also next generation chip, imagine that?<EOM>
