New York Times (NYT) 41.02 +0.30: Newspaper publisher announces staff reduction across all of its business units citing the slowdown in advertising and and the cloudy economic outlook for the remainder of the year; Russell T. Lewis, prsident and CEO says, "reduction will be accomplished, where possible through a voluntary buyout program, but it will also include layoffs in certain areas where the size of a business unit or other factors make the buyout program impractical";
