RE : I worry when I hear this. Especially since I know he's been a bear for over 20 years and just turned bullish within the past year or two. You see, you have to say what the people want to hear to sell newsletters. And 10,000 by 1/1/98 is just what everyone wants to hear right now.

As the bull-market advances, long-time bears will come under increasing pressure to switch sides. The taunts, the snide remarks and the insults from the bulls will become so intense that the bears will be forced to switch sides just in order that they can breathe easier. Just look at "Her Ladyship" Elaine Garzarelli. After she became bullish, life became a lot easier for her. She is no longer the subject of jokes on Brinker's MoneyTalk.

As more and more bears jump ship, the bulls begin to feel vindicated and start feeling intoxicated. It is almost as if their "religion" had "won" the confrontation and the losers opted to convert.

What many won't realize until much later is that the combined weight of all of them has become too much for their own boat, which has now sprung a small leak...

Dipy.
