I used to think well of Rather. Then when we had the Columbine School shootings here in Colorado. He announced he would be here to cover the memorial event. He came and spent 45 minutes interviewing hillary (who had been asked to stay in Washington but came anyway). This was, unfortunately, right at the hottest period of bill clinton's sex scandals. The interview was all about hillary's compassion, which was sickeningly hypocritical in light of what the event was supposed to be about. That, to my recollection, was Rather's total contribution to covering of the event. I haven't been able to listen to him since.
