Gold ETN's... FWIW... curiously tonight there is an article posted on one of the gold threads about this: Message 19576633 It appears that is gold ETNs ever trade they will not have similar guarantees as equity ETNs. As it is inconvenient to transfer and store the gold accumulated, the custodians would take paper instead of the assets and appoint someone at the location of the specie to be subcustodian of the held gold. On top of this, they want to be taken at their word that all is well and not be required to purchase insurance on the assets which would increase management costs. --Cozzz
