I disagree.

Certainly, carrying a soldiers gear two miles instead of the required one, would be disconcerting to the soldier...that is Jesus intention. It SHOULD be.....wonder why?? IMO to turn the world upside down. You are talking about JEWS that before, would not even talk to Gentiles. How many more souls for the Kingdom would be won, just in the military be these actions??

Here are some clues:

All the saints send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar's household.

When the angel who spoke to him had gone, Cornelius called two of his servants and a devout soldier who was one of his attendants.

16 When we got to Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself, with a soldier to guard him.

The centurion replied, "Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, 'Go,' and he goes; and that one, 'Come,' and he comes. I say to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was astonished and said to those following him, "I tell you the truth, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith.

Point being, I wonder how many Roman soldiers and even the household of Ceasar became followers because of this turning of cheeks and walking and giving?
