The Inquirer will post some McKinley benchmarks later today.

-

INTEL VASTLY EXPANDED its presence at the CeBIT 2002 show and was exhibiting McKinley benchmarks, what seemed to be a working machine, as well as pushing the Lecta platform it showed at its Developer Forum a few weeks back.
We have snaps of the screen which we will add to this story later in the day.

But despite making a song and dance about the latest member of the Itanium family, the benchmarks onlz seem to indicate a 1.5 to 2 times performance kick over the first member of the 64-bit family.

Intel will roll out the McKinleys in a pilot stage between now and June this year, with most of the details of the processor already disclosed. As well as showing a McKinley machine, Intel was also handing around a sample of the McMonster, indicating to us that it's pretty close to roll out.

There also seemed to be a strong emphasis on the stand towards consumer and some gaming technology, although the theme of the large stand in Hall 16 is "Helping Technology Talk".

This appears little to do with Lernout and Hauspie speech recognition technology, in which Intel, Microsoft and Cisco had shares, but more to demonstrate a wide spread of products across the range. µ
