Sun's 20th Anniversary Celebration Edition, configured with dual 1.05 Ghz UltraSPARC III Cu processors, blisters the competition on its way to setting a new world record for floating point performance with a score of 827 SPECfp2000. Sorry to burst Sun's bubble but they are wrong. The FP crown belongs to IBM's Power4 specbench.org In fact, using SPECFPbase scores (1 set of compiler options for all tests) the Sun machine loses to Intel's P4. EP
