No, I think you've misclassified yourself. You're not a liberal. You're a conservative who hasn't been mugged yet.

Seriously, I think a person can identify with some liberal perspective without being a liar. But the solid leftists cannot do it without lying. I would also suggest that some people are liberal out of stupidity -- and as a result, don't need to lie, they just can't comprehend the truth (this would be someone like Phil Donahue).
