I don't disagree. However, if it is between defending the nation against the threat of Islamic Terrorists and providing for "pre-kindergarten", the choice is, to me, a no-brainer.

Well, the problem is that if you are going to have the best healthcare system in the WORLD (as we do), someone has to pay for it. Government programs simply cannot support the kind of medical advancements we have. I see it every day. Physicians can't make enough money off of Medicare and Medicaid to render decent services (particularly when facing malpractice premiums of $300,000/year). As a result, I often advise physicians to put limits on the number of Medicare and Medicaid patients they will accept; otherwise, they end up with a disproportionate number of patients who don't pay their ways.
