albert, Re: "I explained to you that what I meant and I am not willing to repeat it. I am responsible for those who report to me and whomever I report to are responsible for me that is how it is.
If someone who reports to me does something wrong then I take the heat because it is my crew.
I do not much care if you can find people who agree with you, if my project is not upto standards I am not going to say that that is not me who did the coding and look bmw agrees with me"

Unbelievable all the wasted effort you put into defending yourself, when really you are comparing apples to oranges. I never claimed that you are not responsible for the actions of your subordinates. I am, however, saying that if one of your subordinates claims something, then someone else cannot quote you as stating that claim.

Let me repeat. Responsible for actions, yes. Obligated to take ownership of direct quotes, no.

If you'll humor me long enough to apply this to Craig Barrett, then let me state that I believe that Craig Barrett is ultimately responsible of both the actions, and the claims of Paul Otellini. However, that still does not give you the authority to quote Barrett for a claim that Paul Otellini made. Barrett did not make the claim. He may be responsible for it, but you are misrepresenting the facts when you say that Barrett made it.
