Shutting the Straits is not a battle of WWI dreadnaughts. It's 1000 magnetic mines on time release anchors, speedboats with jet torpedos, and shore-to-ship missiles. Iran would lose the naval war, of course, but at what cost to the US and the supertanker fleet ? At minimum a real war takes out all Iranian production - what does that mean to the markets ? Meanwhile China buys cheap oil while the posturing continues. I am long domestics. wg
