I am sure that things have been tightened up since those presentations at the end of 2000, but I suspect that the number of metal layers have stayed the same. Now, of course, this is the maximum the process is designed for. Since neither AMD nor Intel typically use all of the metal layers available, it would be surprising if AMD were to use all 9 layers for the Hammers. Not impossible, but it would be atypical.
