We really can't; the Islamic Extremist will be blaming us from now on. The problem, of course, is that while we may bring democracy to Iraq, we can't solve the bigger problems of the region.

Oil will provide for the next 20 or so years over there. But the minute the first feasible fuel cell powered auto is produced, the value of oil, their only asset, begins to decline. Iraq and Saudi Arabia have nothing else, unless there is great demand for sand.

Further, the water disputes over the next 20 years in the region are going to make the Israeli/Palestinian problem look like a gravel road rock fight.

Bush is doing the right thing by trying to bring democracy to Iraq. But the heart of the problem is Islamic Fundamentalism. While we may get some temporary relief, I fear my kids are going to be facing these issues 50 years from now.
