WRONG! At the time Kerry got that assignment, it was a nice safe offshore patrol.

THEN it was changed on him into a river patrol. He did NOT volunteer for THAT!

AND he did try to get a deferment before enlisting. It ain't like he was a gung ho warrior-patriot.
