If I remember correctly yesterday was just the opposite, Apple up SP and Dow down. I long ago stopped comparing Apple to the Nasdaq. Apple is just too huge.

I think Apple is a refuge during fear for active traders. When things look good they put their money in other stocks they think might be more rewarding, or options etc.
