I didn't say that it should be an exact reflection. The oft quoted "eye for an eye" was a principal of basic justice. So what I am saying is that a punishment should reflect the seriousness of the crime. I don't see that as being illogical. I believe the State has a biblical mandate to make and enforce Laws. So Capital punishment for a capital crime, is both logical and biblical. I think that it should also be a capital crime to lie or tamper with evidence, in a capital case. That, combined with an higher level of certainty in such cases would go along way to alleviate, instances of unjust or erroneous convictions.
