Out of curiousity I fired off an email to twenty of the ISPs on the list of 300 that "support" K56Flex. I wanted to see how many were also going to support X2 as well.

The bad news is very few will be supporting X2 soon. Every time I pressed an ISP for details as to why, they admitted that they had absolutely no USR hardware. The good news is, not one I received a response from has any real plans to implement K56. The vast majority of responses were of the form, once a standard has been reached ... None were waiting with baited breath for new K56 server hardware. As you say

The Rockwell based ISPs won't pony up big bucks to upgrade their modem cards until there is a critical mass of compatible client modems.
