Jerry: Simply buy Novell from $6-8 as long term investment. If you insist on buying now, fine. But, IMHO, you will get other chances.

Novell will not be bought out in the short to intermediate term.

Last weeks annoucement was brutally honest. Schmidt piled on with enough vision to get people thinking positive about Novell's longer term prospects. This is what Novell needs more of. Now they have to deliver product, on time, on target - that's a TCP/IP Java-rich Moab release, IntranetWare for native NT, continued follow-thru killer closes for BoarderManager, Push applications, an expanding market for Groupwise - with more features, etc.

There is a lot here to tackle. Schmidt is up to the task, but he needs to bring in some of his own hand-picked players to begin the process of remaking the Board in his own image.

This run-up should be sold at the $9 level on up. We've got a lot more work, sweat and uncertainty ahead.

Best of luck!
